Worst College Logos

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyCollege football is in full swing and we thought it'd be appropriate to go over something very important to the game: logos.

Most college logos are simple and straightforward -- something college their students and Alumni can wear with pride, but there are a few schools that should start over. Below are the 15 worst college logos we could find:

Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly15. Cornell Big Reds

You know what I find intimidating? A bear hugging a giant "C" from a school named after a pack of chewing gum!

Run for the hills, fuzzy wuzzy might hug you to death! Seriously.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 14. Maryland Terrapins

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyThis just in: Morton Koopa Jr. from Super Mario Bros. 3 (and the like) has escaped the Mushroom Kingdom and is running around carrying a giant "M"! He is considered extremely aggressive and is known to snarl and flex at will (as pictured on the left). One or two jumps on the head will provoke him further, but three direct jumps on the head will knock him out for good.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly13. NMSU Aggies aka I'm thinkin' Aggies

This guy looks like he's going to lasso me up a BBQ sandwich from Arby's.

Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 12. Colorado State Rams aka Dodge Ram

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyNot only does this ram look bored and ugly (are those earrings, or are its ears just melting off?), it looks exactly like the Dodge Ram logo. To its credit, CSU's logo precedes its vehicular counterpart, but I'm pretty sure there are other ways to show a ram than head-on in two tones.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly11. Duke Blue Devils

Snidely Whiplash's brother much?

10. Wake Forest Demon DeacUgly College Logos - Ugly Fuglyons

I didn't realize that my angry, xenophobic, old coot of a neighbor was the mascot for Wake Forest! Apparently, the students are lobbying for this new version Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly
NC State Ugly Logo 9. North Carolina State Wolfpack

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyWhat's worse than having an ugly logo? Copying one. How many students enrolled thinking they were accepted to Stanford before they realized the tree was missing from their logo? The giant "S" doesn't even stand for their school name (note the lack of an "s" aside from in the word "State"). My younger brother will be excited to know there is a college that embraces plagiarism awaiting his application.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 8. BYU

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyOkay, so maybe this isn't their official logo, but it is what's plastered all over their football helmets. A "Y." That's it, no collegiate-style font, just a simple, serif "Y" that looks suspiciously like the Yahoo! logo. Highly questionable if you ask me...
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly Joe Camel7. Campbell University Camels

Nothing's scarier than a camel baring it's teeth. Please tell me they don't have cheerleaders - they'd be lucky if the only camel references were about cigarettes.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 6. Columbia University Lions
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly
A roaring lion is a pretty respectable logo choice; how could it go wrong? I'll tell you how: by hiring the artist who conceptualized the makeup for the late-80s show Beauty and the Beast. Congratulations Columbia University, your athletic supporters now consist entirely of middle-aged housewives.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 5. UC Irvine Anteaters

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyApparently any animal can become a reasonably intimidating mascot by giving it angry eyes. To be completely fair, the UC Irvine Anteaters consistently win when they play football against teams composed entirely of ants.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 4. Kansas Jayhawks
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly
I feel like I've seen this logo on a Red Robin placemat while doing my best to color with the four waxy crayons they give me. Of course, they usually make me ask to get the crayons and placemat because I'm an "adult" (whatever that means).
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 3. Culver Stockton Wildcats

Culver Stockton students might think they're cute with this so-called "wildcat" logo, but I know better. This logo is actually a ripoff of a drawing I did back in 1998 of my dog Benji using Paint. I don't blame them for stealing my artwork; at the time, my drawing was praised as being "masterful" and "beautiful" by art critics such as my mom.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 2. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

Ugly College Logos - Ugly FuglyI know what you're thinking. Hilltopper? What the hell is that? A Wikipedia search for "hilltopper" redirects to an article on fox hunting, which seems pretty far off from my guess of "one who tops hills." This logo would suggest that hilltoppers do something that involves towels being flung around, which is exactly the kind of homoerotic imagery that any opposing football team would find intimidating.
Ugly College Logos - Ugly Fugly 1. Wichita State Shockers

Let's see, we have a muscle-y wheat-man donning a sweater from his alma mater. Okay, that's a little weird, but I guess I can go with it. And wheatman seems to be chewing on some wheat, which is also what his body is made of. Strange, but hey, it's old-timey. Let me guess, his athletic team is the Haystacks, or something else cutesy and outdated, right? No? What is it then? The Shockers... I see. Nice try, Wichita State, but I'm pretty sure that I know what a shocker is, and this isn't it.

All aestetics aside you might think about doing your research a little better:

Most of these logos or mascots are lot older than the stuff than you've compared them to. Rather than claiming the logos as the problem you might be asking why this other stuff looks like these logos.

The BYU "Y" was used in the 70's and 80's years before Yahoo was even a dream.
The Duke Blue Devil has been used since 1924.
The Hilltoppers is a reference to Scottish Heritage much like Highlanders.
The current likeness of the Jayhawk started being used in 1941. The founder of Red Robin wasn't even born yet.
The NC State Logo has been used since 1972 while the current Stanford incarnations was several years later.
The WSU Shockers name reflects the University's heritage: Early students earned money by shocking, or harvesting, wheat in nearby fields.
Apparently you're too young to know better.

The Western Kentucky campus is located on top of a hill, thus Hilltoppers. I know it is really hard to understand the idea of word-compounding.

You must be from Creighton University. No one else could be that stupid. You know what a shocker is? It's someone who shocks wheat, retard. That's what it meant before anything else you perverted piece of crap. Get yourself together. And let me just say so you can hear it one more time-- you write for uglyfugly.com. I write for the number one high school sports website in the state of Kansas (and I'm just a sophomore in high school myself), so don't try and get out of this one with, "What site do YOU write for?" Sorry, buddy.
